Gordon is a final year Chemical and Materials Engineering PhD candidate at the University of Auckland. His research topic is the Mechanism and kinetics of hydrogen fluoride adsorption on smelter grade alumina. He also worked on key process requirements such as enhanced alumina and AlF3 feeding and control, anode effect termination, emissions control and potline circuit-protection systems. In addition, Gordon is part of the training team on LMRC’s Industry Training modules in aluminium smelters around the world.
Prior to joining LMRC, Gordon worked for more than 5 years in the operations and process control departments of the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO, Ghana) and the Qatar Aluminium Limited (Qatalum) where he gained valuable technical and hands-on experience with day-to-day potline operations and management.
