2008 MEng Studies at The University of Auckland
2008 Master Degree of Light Metals Course was successfully completed on the 28th January- 8th February 2008. Students from Dubal, Bahrain, Australia, USA attended two-week course with one week on-site smelter training.
2008 Post Graduate Certificate Course and Industry Training Course in Light Metals Reduction Technology
The Light Metals Research Centre in co-operation with the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Auckland is holding the Post Graduate Certificate Course in Light Metals Reduction Technology on 17th Nov-5th Dec 2008.
The programme includes a three week intensive course that is partly residential and includes visits to operating smelters for workshop discussions and practical examples of topics being taught.
Courses will be delivered by both academic lecturers and industry specialists. Individual courses can also be taken as non-award subjects. Entry into the Certificate programme requires completion of a relevant undergraduate degree or approved industry experience. The subject content for the Certificate Course is made up of four courses specially geared for the aluminium industry, namely:
- Electrochemical Engineering

Aluminium Reduction Process Operations
- The Light Metals Industry
- Materials Performance and Selection for Light Metals Processing
