LMRC contributes to global IPCC effort to account GHG emissions from Aluminium Smelters.
More than a decade after the Inter-Governmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) released its 2006 guidelines* for industries and governmental bodies to account for Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, there is now a global effort to refine and improve these accounting methods by 2019. Recent studies highlighting gaps between atmopsheric measurements vs. industial accounts of global GHG emissions highlight the need for refinements to these accounting methods.
LMRC, with its expertise and history of research into Perfluorocarbon (PFC) GHG emissions from aluminium smelters, will be working with the IPCC and other aluminium experts to contribute to refine the 2006 Guidelines. Dr. David Wong from LMRC will be travelling to Bilbao, Spain in June 12-14 as part of this important work. For more information, visit the IPCC website: http://www.ipcc-nggip.iges.or.jp
